Choosing the perfect wall colour for a livingroom makeover

This tips am gonna share with u was not originally from me, but i got it from different sources from the web. I have a passion for interior design, but i can only learn some parts of it from the net because i got no time, am a student.

Every person planning on doing a makeover for his space should have some inspirational colour types, fabrics, furnitures and the rest, you should picture how your space should look like after the makeover. A person is likely to ask himself some questions as follows:

  • What colour(s) should i paint my walls?
  • What tile colour and type should i use?
  • What type and colour of rug will go best?
  • What type and colour of sofa and table should i use?
  • What fabric should i use ror my curtains?
  • Where should i start from?

But with my research, i was able to understand a little about these questions, some tips are:

I know you have a specific colour in mind for your walls, and you think painting the wall is the first thing to do before you start thinking of tiles, sofa, furnitures, decors and the rest. But thats a great mistake people make. why, is because you might end up not getting the sofa, tiles and furnitures your looking for or in the colour you planned to get for your room and you end up confused and looking for help and ideas.

Well before yo start anything, first get your inspired colour combinations, make sure the wall colour you chose goes with the rest of your colours, starting from the furnitures, the sofa, the tiles and even the rug colour. then get a sample on a paper and go shopping. While shopping:

  • Start with the sofa, get a great shade that best suit you. If you cant get the one you planned on picking earlier, then chose something similar. In there, you can even change your mind by siting a great sofa.
  • Then go for your furtiture, be sure to take a sample of your sofa for your furniture shopping, so that you can see if the furniture goes well with your sofa.
  • The next step is to go for a tile selection. a tile that goes wit everythng.
  • then from there you can choose a wall colour that goes well with everythng. note that a bold colour needs a bright light.
  • finally choose your decors and accessories to finish up
  • Then get startted.

I hope this helps. Gudluck with your livingroom makeover

Purple

here is my favourite colour, purple, i prefer the lighter shade of it, dats lilac. Its a unique cute colour that i cherish alot, am attached to it. though, like all colours, purple signifies some ugly aspects. and dats not part of the reason i like it. too much purple makes a place dull, as much as i like it, i dont use it too much, i use it when i should, not all the time, so beware when using a colour. in these countries below, purple signifies alot:

purple: The color of mourning for widows in Thailand, purple was the favorite color of Egypt's Cleopatra. It has been traditionally associated with royalty in many cultures. Purple robes were worn by royalty and people of authority or high rank. The Purple Heart is a U.S. Military decoration given to soldiers wounded in battle.
Using Purple

purple got some different meanings which i would group into two, the first group is the good part of the colour and my favourites, such as creativity and royalty. the second group will be the uggly side of the colour, such as lesbianism and arrogance

Royalty and Spirituality
Purple is royalty. A mysterious color, purple is associated with both nobility and spirituality. The opposites of hot red and cool blue combine to create this intriguing color.

Nature of Purple

Purple has a special, almost sacred place in nature: lavender, orchid, lilac, and violet flowers are often delicate and considered precious. Because purple is derived from the mixing of a strong warm and strong cool color it has both warm and cool properties. A purple room can boost a child's imagination or an artist's creativity. Too much purple, like blue, could result in moodiness.
Culture of Purple
The color of mourning for widows in Thailand, purple was the favorite color of Egypt's Cleopatra. It has been traditionally associated with royalty in many cultures. Purple robes were worn by royalty and people of authority or high rank. The Purple Heart is a U.S. Military decoration given to soldiers wounded in battle.
Using Purple
Deep or bright purples suggest riches while lighter purples are more romantic and delicate. Use redder purples for a warmer color scheme or the bluer purples to cool down.

different shades of purple are:  Violet, plum, lavender, lilac, puce, thistle, orchid, mauve, magenta, royal, amethyst, wine, pomegranate, eggplant, mulberry.

Colours that goes well with purple are: beirge, green and pink. But Combining the stable and calming aspects of blue with the mystical and spiritual qualities of purple, Blue Iris satisfies the need for reassurance in a complex world, while adding a hint of mystery and excitement

Purple might signify these:

influence, third eye, psychic ability, spiritual power, self assurance, hidden knowledge, dignity, high aspirations, royalty, spirituality, nobility, ceremony, mystery, transformation, wisdom, enlightenment, sophistication, cruelty, arrogance, intuition, dreams, unconscious, invisible, telepathy, empathy, imagination, deja vu, universal spirit, spiritual connection, deeper truth, nobility, wealth, extravagance, dignity, independence, magic, creativity, energy, self-confidence, ego, ambition, fame, luxury, big profits, richness, sensuality, elegance, contemplation, meditation, majesty, lesbianism, Wicca, New Age spirituality, paganism, conceit, arrogance, nausea

But note that Almost 75 percent of pre-adolescent children prefer purple to all other colors, making bright purple effective for promotion of children's products. Light purple is useful for feminine designs. Excessive exposure to purple may cause people to become sullen, withdrawn and ill-at-ease with their surroundings. Purple is a polarising colour - people either love it or hate it.

Different shades of purple  signifies different things
Lavender : young, sexual indecision, malleability, romance, nostalgia, feminity

Dark purple : gloom, sadness, frustration, royalty, richness

Mauve : Young, world consciousness

Violet : Meditation, creativity, concentration, quietness, creative force, beauty, inspiration, artistry, music, chivalrous love, excellence, ethereal, sensuality, responsibility, sacrifice
